Corrosion protection of the BESS enclosure
A storage enclosure stands outdoors for the life of the asset. The coating system is chosen for the site's corrosivity class and applied in our own paint shop after our own blasting.

Sa 2.5
Every enclosure is blast cleaned to Sa 2.5 per EN ISO 8501-1 before the first coat. Adhesion is decided here, before any paint is mixed.
Three coats
A Zn-epoxy primer, an epoxy MIO intermediate and a PU topcoat. The system is ISO 12944 C4-H as standard and C5 on request for coastal and industrial atmospheres.
The inside
The inner lining is galvanised steel sheet on a support grid over the 100 mm A1 mineral wool: no exposed insulation, no combustible lining.
Fittings
The ISO 1161 castings are retained, and the earthing points, the data plate and the CSC plate are fitted after coating. The inspection protocol records the coating as applied.

Questions procurement asks
Which corrosivity class is standard?
ISO 12944 C4-H. C5 is available on request for coastal and heavy industrial sites.
Is the coating done in-house?
Yes. Blasting to Sa 2.5 and the three-coat system are applied in the Tanax paint shop.
Send the rack weights and the foot layout. The floor is calculated from them.
The structural calculation, the openings and the architecture are settled in the engineering phase. The specification sheet comes with the reply.

- Enclosure architecturesThe first decision of a battery enclosure is whether a person works inside it. Everything else, the doors, the lighting, the aisle, the rack count, follows from that.
- Fire and explosion safetyA battery enclosure is designed for the event nobody wants: cells venting, gas accumulating, a fire that has to stay inside a steel box. The design decisions below are what the enclosure contributes to the integrator's fire concept.
- Structure and floorA standard container floor is plywood on cross members. A battery rack stands on four feet and weighs what a loaded truck does. The floor is replaced, and the replacement is calculated.
