Overview
ISO Standard containers are the workhorse format of intermodal logistics and on-site storage. Tanax builds 20 ft and 40 ft dry cubes to the same dimensional, structural and corner-fitting tolerances as marine-class containers, with the steel cut, welded, blasted, painted and dispatched from a single production line in Bánovce nad Bebravou. The body is corrugated CORTEN-equivalent weathering steel on a hot-rolled bottom rail. The roof is fully sealed corrugated steel. The corner castings are forged ISO 1CC, fitted before paint.
Catalog stock covers the most-requested configurations. Custom doors, vents and floor finishes are added during the same production pass when ordered as a single batch.
Construction and materials
- Body: 1.6 mm corrugated steel, weathering or hot-dip galvanised on request.
- Floor: 28 mm marine plywood on hot-rolled steel cross members.
- Frame: hot-rolled steel, welded to EN ISO 3834-2, integrated into the EN 1090-1 EXC2 chain.
- Corner castings: forged ISO 1CC, eight per unit, stackable up to nine high under ISO 3874 lashing.
- Doors: 1.6 mm steel with single or double cam-locking gear, ribbed reinforcement, EPDM door gasket, anti-rack closing rod.
- Paint: surface prepared to ISO 8501 Sa 2.5 in our own blast booth, two-coat system rated to C3 corrosivity (EN ISO 12944).
- Standard livery: RAL 7016 anthracite or RAL 5010 gentian blue. Other RAL codes on request.

Tolerances meet ISO 668. Each unit ships with a unique BIC code, CSC plate, ACEP eligibility documentation if applicable, and a multilingual handover manual.
Certifications and norms
- ISO 668 (classification and dimensions)
- ISO 1496-1 (specification and testing)
- ISO 6346 (coding, identification, marking)
- ISO 1CC corner casting
- CSC plate (Container Safety Convention 1972)
- EN 1090-1 EXC2 (execution class for steel structures)
- EN ISO 3834-2 (welding production-level)
- ISO 8501 Sa 2.5 (surface preparation)

Typical use cases
- Intermodal transport across CEE and Western Europe.
- Long-term on-site storage on construction sites, military bases and logistics depots.
- Fleet pool deployment for hire companies that need certified, stackable inventory.
- Base unit for downstream modifications (office, sanitary, fuel, training). Most of our office and special-purpose builds begin life as an ISO Standard shell from this production line.
Customisation options
- Door configuration: single end door, double end doors, side-access doors, full open-side, roller shutter.
- Vent set: passive louvers, powered louvers for battery rooms, REI-rated vents for hazardous goods.
- Floor finishes: plywood, steel checkered plate, diamond plate, rubber matting, anti-slip resin.
- Tie-down rail and lashing rings to L-track or AAR.
- Insulation: PIR sandwich panel retrofit; not standard on dry cubes but available as a build option.
- Livery: any RAL code in our paint booth; SOS 112 reflective bands for fire and rescue lines (HaZZ specification).

FAQ
Are these maritime-class containers? Yes. The dimensional and corner-fitting standards match ISO 668 and ISO 1496-1. Every unit ships with a CSC plate and ISO 6346 BIC code. They are stackable to ISO 1CC and have passed structural test cycles equivalent to a maritime survey.
Can I stack these on a marine vessel? The base spec is compliant. For vessel deployment the buyer should confirm with their shipping line that the BIC code and CSC plate are recognised in the line's container fleet database, which is a paperwork step rather than a structural one.
What is the difference between DV and HC? DV is "dry van" with 2591 mm external height. HC is "high cube" with 2896 mm external height. HC adds 305 mm of internal headroom and is commonly preferred for office conversions and storage of palletised goods at full height.
Why EN 1090-1 EXC2 instead of just CSC? EN 1090 covers the structural execution of the steelwork itself. CSC covers the container's eligibility for intermodal transport. The two run in parallel; CSC depends on EN 1090 quality being in place. Tanax operates the welding line under ISO 3834-2 production-level qualification, which feeds the EXC2 chain.
Do you supply used containers? We refurbish and recertify used units, but our core production is new build. Refurbishment volume is allocated case-by-case. Most customers buying for downstream modification prefer new builds because the documentation chain is cleaner.
Can I get a fixed price and lead time before commissioning? Yes. Send dimensions, door configuration, livery and quantity to [email protected] and we will return a fixed quote within 3 to 5 working days for standard configurations.
